Ducats! Sine qua non...
...Hereby gives thanks and felicitations to his most loyal subjects! Dutifully putting aside their petty needs such as food, clothing, and rent, the populace has responded enthusiastically and without rancour to the latest decree from the Finance Ministry levying a special tax to pay for the coming war effort.
Great was the rejoicing when our Imperial tax collectors returned to the Imperial Treasury laden with contributions from a grateful citizenry. Splendid was the pageantry, as each collector had been accompanied on his vital mission by a section of Grenzers (vile-tongued rumours of coercion on the part of these heroic warriors in order to get our Loyal Subjects to part with their meagre savings are completely fabricated- and indeed, treasonous. They merely accompanied the tax officials for their own protection, and as a show of their patriotism from the distant regions of Empire).
As a result of our newly replenished coffers, recruiting for the Army of Liberation and Freedom for the Rightful and Hereditary Hapsburg Lands can commence without delay!
Imperator Franciscus II Vivat!
I just hope I get to the mailbox before my wife does...
Gilles clearly paints like a bat out of hell, so there is no point me waiting too long before I get my Austrians ready- otherwise I'll be rolled over by a Bonapartist tide!
In case it is not clear to those reading this blog, Gilles is "Braxen"- he's here in Tokyo too, and is the one who is doing the French and Polish army. His are the posts in blue.
And I wish someone did Austrians in overcoats- in 6mm or in 28mm!
