Willkommen!

This blog will chart my progress in what is for me, truly uncharted territory- a wargames army in 6mm!

I have always been a 28mm man, but as I now have the chance to do some gaming with a friend here in Tokyo, I need an army in a scale that will be portable on the transportation system here.

Additionally, some of the miniatures from Baccus have been tempting me in a big way, and it is a chance to try out a modelling and gaming experience on a different level from what I have done previously, where the brigade or perhaps division was the largest formation I was able to represent on the wargames table. Going up a few command levels will be quite a different experience.

I'll consider it something of a promotion!

Here I will record my thoughts and experiences on working on this new scale, and share information and resources that I come across. we'll probably be using Sam Mustafa's Grande Armee ("lite") rules.

The army is the Austrian army of the 1809 campaign, one which has always interested me, but as my other Napoleonic collection is 28mm for the Leipzig campaign, I had been reluctant to invest in a duplicate Austrian force in helmets.

So, 6mm seems the way to go- and it gives me the excuse to build the Granary at Essling!
